san fermin festival 2012 - running of the bulls
things we learnt ...
get accomodation, the bed will be your best friend in the wee hours of the morning - attempting to sleep in the park looks cold and depressing
dont go near people who wear 'fanatics' tour shirts - they represent largely the 'bogan' part of our country
definitely wander the streets after the opening ceremony for some incredible photos of sangria soaked people and a sea of red and white clothing
always wear red and white ... nothing else for the entire time you're there
try the kalimotxo ... red wine and coke ...
your clothes will get trashed ... be prepared to throw them out
watch the fireworks each night
party in the streets with the locals afterwards ... find a little brass band performing in an alley and dance along
eat the churros .. they come in a large cone cup coated with sugar
watch the bull run in the morning from inside the stadium ... party the night before until 3am then sleep for a few hours and be at the bull ring for 630am .. get swept up in the noise and spirit that is san fermin
sleep between 12pm and 5pm ... all the locals do ...

our beautiful terrace apartment in the gothic quarter
looking up while walking through the little alley ways ... pot plants spilling over teh edges
gaudi's sagrada familia
parc guell and the spanish guitarist busking in the shade ... looking out over the city
half day hike up mt tibidabo ... into the temple of tibidabo to marvel at the view below
buying fresh juices, cheese, jamon, asparagus and eggs from the markets and having snacks in the afternoon
going to casa batllo at night and finding it almost empty from crowds
final meal at quimet quimet
