visiting gaudi's parc guell

built during 1900 - 1914

i wish i could live near this park
a serious climb through colourful streets up some stairs and escalators (strange!) to get us to the famous park
guzzling water and snacking on sweet fruit as we walked in the heat through the start of the park
cactus and olive trees everywhere
peeking through the fence to catch glimpses across barcelona
the moment i had hoped for all through spain - to hear some traditional spanish guitar
suddenly wafting through the trees ...
a man perched on a stone wall playing his guitar
so thrilled to be able to buy his cd
touching the beautiful mosaic walls and peering down at the crowds of people trying to get a photo
with the iconic 'lizard' statue
guitar sounds turned into choral sounds as we came across a group of school aged students on tour singing in an undercovered area
masses of purple and orange boganvillia spilling out over the rocky walls
buying a cool icy treat to have on the walk down back to the train station
