My Mum makes incredibly beautiful quilts.

It's something I've always been enamoured by. Her patience. Her skill. Her eye for colours and shape.
We grew up constantly surrounded by Mum's works of art. I remember my first pink and blue square quilt, the quilted cushions on the beds, my childhood curtains that became a picnic blanket, an incredible maroon applique quilt and the thousands of hand appliqued leaves that made up my favourite "leaf quilt".

It's always been a process I've wanted to learn and share with Mum. It's a craft that I so strongly identify with as "Mum".

My friend Steph's pregnancy marked an opportunity for me to give it a go.
Mum and I combined scraps and worked them into a rainbow. It's always been amusing learning crafts from Mum ... my left-handedness and her right-handed teaching often results in some confusing moments!

I can't think of a nicer friend, or for that matter, family to receive this quilt. I know Steph will appreciate the little story behind each fabric and treasure the mother/daughter time spent over each step.
