After having breakfast at the hotel we walked down the cobblestone path all the way through town to the bus and train station. We jumped on the SITA bus and in true Italian style it was packed and unorganised! We managed to get one seat and there were people crammed in everywhere! Easter long weekend I suppose ...

The ride was insane .... the views were incredible! Todd managed to film quite a bit of it which was great.
The road runs right along the cliff and you twist and turn as you get higher and higher over Sorrento.
We weren't sure where to get off ... we only had one day for this Amalfi Coast! We'd heard that the bus because really crowded and hard to get on if you get off at Positano so we made the executive decision to just visit Amalfi at the end of the line .. rather than hop off at Positano.
Prior to the trip I'd been really keen to see this Amalfi coast line and it seemed our weather luck ran out. The darkest of storm clouds loomed over the cliffs. It made for pretty remarkable sights .. just not the Amalfi I'd seen in the photos!

The road was so packed and often in spots when the road runs under the cliff and through the bridge it's only one way. So the bus driver would stop and get out of the bus, run down the road ... tell everyone to back up and then precariously jolt through the bridge.

Luckily we were pretty rugged up and could wander around the little town of Amalfi. Apparently over 70 000 people once lived in this town and then one day they were all gone .. the land slid into the ocean. Horrible!
Amalfi are known for their paper making and we bought a beautiful book for our wedding which I thought we could use for people to sign.
The cold weather was making us hungry and we followed the crowds. Turns out Easter weekend means the fish places were thriving!
We found this little hole in the wall that was serving cones of freshly fried seafood. So delicious!
We ate it on the steps and watched everyone walk past.

Turns out when it came time to catch the bus we'd made a realllllly good decision. With the storm closing in there was a huge line of people trying to get on the bus. After a bit of a hustle we managed to get on the bus and when driving past Positano there were people everywhere. The bus just drove past them because it was full! Phew!

That night we decided to bunker down and lay low. I had a really long bath and then we enjoyed dinner at the hotel restaurant and early to bed.
