Our last day in Milan!
Today it was Corrado's tour turn of "new Milan". He took us to a great bookshop cafe where we had our morning coffee and pastry (of course) and wandered around the new Milan. Skyscrapers, stores, office buildings and green spaces. It was hard to believe the Duomo was standing in the same city.
My favourite building was one that made it look like the green growth was just suspended on the edge of the building.

Corrado showed us to the metro station and we caught the train to the station. It was a really fast train to Firenze where we were meeting up with Jo and Ash and Brad and Nerida.

Once we arrived in Florence we walked to our accomodation. We realised that we were walking towards the large Duomo - another duomo!
Turns out we were only a street down from the Duomo. Corrado had told us that the Florence duomo is completely different to the Milan duomo because it Florence it is quite literally plonked amongst the residential apartments and shops! No square, or isolation from the other buildings!

We weren't sure of the apartment we were meant to be finding so we stopped at a little coffee shop on the street and sat down to enjoy a coffee. Not long afterwards we could see Ash hanging out the window waving us down!

What a surreal moment to have the six of us sitting in an apartment in Florence!?
We caught up on news ... Jo and Ash and Brad and Nerida had spent almost a week in Rome before meeting us.
Dinner that night at a local restaurant with their multicoloured candles stuck in bottles and some red wine.
