Easter Sunday and the Easter bunny didn't quite find us in Sorrento!
Never the less we hopped on the train and made our way to Pompeii. The ruins are massive and we quickly realised you'd need more than a day to see it all. Todd was so excited ... he loves the ruins. It was another cloudy day but the rain held off which was good. It would have been amazing to see Mt Vesuvius looming over the ruins but it was covered by cloud.
We couldn't believe that there are still people living on an active volcano!
Given it was Easter Sunday the last train was heading back to Sorrento at 1.00pm so we didn't want to miss that and risk being stranded. Once back in Sorrento we had an espresso and made our way down to the main fisherman's wharf.
We ended up walking back up the cliff along this path and the drop down to the ocean was so beautiful!
It started to rain so we ran back to the same restaurant we'd had a meal at on our first night. It was such a great little family run trattoria. We watched the rain fall down, ate pasta and drank wine in the middle of the day. So lovely!
We picked up some tiles on our way home, a number 18 for the front of our house. They have little yellow lemons painted all over them which will remind us of Sorrento.

Dad had tipped us off to a good restaurant located down at the fisherman's wharf. We are so glad we made it down there for our last night! Away from the main port, this was like a mini-Amalfi!
Fisherman apparently own all of the restaurants and cook their catch up each night.
The buildings are brightly coloured and look up at the hotel's on the cliff.
There was a pier leading out to Mt Vesuvius and we sat at the bar which was right on the edge. A big glass of peroni and house white and some freshly fried local sardines. It was a good moment that one.
We went to Emilia's, Dad's recommendation and enjoyed a seafood basket and insalata mista.
A beautiful last night in Sorrento.
