Today was our travel day from Florence over to Venice.
We woke up to grey skies and drizzle.  I went for a walk through to the Uffizi for one final chance at seeing the watercolour artists. It was so beautiful walking through the rain with an umbrella. Outside the Duomo the crowds had started to line up and everyone had a different coloured brolly.
It looked so lovely!
The artist wasn't there, but I did pick up a tea towel and headed back home.

We had coffee downstairs at the cafe, Brad and Nez hit up the leather markets and then began our walk to the train station.

We had to get the train over to Venice and then a ferry to the stop closest to our accomodation.
Dad had said to look at the view once we walk out of the train station ... it was pretty surreal. Venice is somewhere I'd always seen so many photos of ... but to see it in front of you ... these buildings essentially on the water ... it was really amazing.
The weather, however, was not amazing. It was really terrible!
We worked out which ferry to catch and then bundled on. It was freeeeezing cold ... so so cold and the wind was whipping up around our faces.
When we arrived our air bnb lady was supposed to be meeting us but she was nowhere in sight! Turns out she was staying warm and waiting to hear from us ... so we sheltered at a gelato shop, got a snack and waited for her. She walked us through to our accommodation, and thankfully she did as this was just the start of getting super lost in Venice!

After we'd settled in we rugged up and decided to attempt a bit of a walk. It was so miserable and wet though! Todd had sussed out a pub which we gratefully wandered in to and warmed up. Red wine, a nibble plate and a deck of cards kept us entertained for hours and we watched as the pub slowly filled up to the brim as people escaped the wild weather outside. One of my favourite evenings ... even though we weren't out and about it was nice to just stop and slow down and enjoy a few drinks over some cards.
